Organizations are facing unprecedented complexity as they compete in a fast-paced global environment. While the past 20 years have seen a sharp increase in the use of coaching in organizations, the development of a coaching culture inside organizations is not yet widely recognized as one of the most effective tools to deal with these turbulent environments. Drawing from complexity theory, physics, and biology, this session will demonstrate how a coaching culture can support the enablement of self - organization. The concept of self-organization in organizational settings has received much attention in the past decade as the tendency towards flatter and more responsive organizations has emerged. This session will explore contemporary trends in organizational development such as Holocracy and Teal Organizations, and make practical suggestions as to how coaching can be used to support more agile, flexible, and resilient organizations.
